U.S. Ambassador Opens International Energy Symposium

Österreichische Nationalbibliothek
Vienna, October 8, 2009

U.S. Ambassador to Austria William C. Eacho, III's Remarks

U.S. Ambassador to Austria William C. Eacho, III provided an in-depth overview of public and private investment in green technology in the U.S. and the President’s policy on climate change in his opening statement at the EnergyInvest conference on October 8. The one-day conference, organized by the U.S. Embassy Vienna's Public Affairs Section and co-sponsored by the American Chamber of Commerce, brought together over 100 high-level representatives of the Austrian government, the international business community, as well as investment and energy experts, and the media. American keynote speakers Tom Plant, Director of the Colorado Governor’s Energy Office, and Daniel Englander, senior energy analyst at Greentech Media Research, explained energy efficiency and sustainable energy initiatives in the U.S., and showed how these projects are funded. In addition to speaking at the conference, Plant and Englander gave presentations to the climate change expert committee of the Styrian provincial parliament and an Upper Austrian green technology business association.
