The Immigrant Visa Unit in Vienna, Austria processes immigrant visas, K and V visas for Austrian citizens and third country nationals permanently residing in Austria. Vienna is also one of the posts designated to process Iranian "homeless" cases.

Processing of Iranian "homeless" cases will be initiated only upon receipt of proof that the Iranian applicants are in possession of a valid Austrian visa which will allow them to either remain in or return to Austria for at least three months, the average time required to process those cases to completion. The Iranian applicants must be able to independently secure the Austrian visa. This Embassy cannot intervene or get involved in that process. Proof of the valid Austrian visa has to be provided before processing of the cases will be initiated. The actual processing time varies, depending on the immigration category and the administrative processing required, and can take up to several months.

Interview appointments are Mondays, Tuesdays or Thursdays at 1 pm and are set upon receipt of notification that the applicant is in possession of all required documents. If applicants desire, they may be accompanied by their attorneys at the time of the interview. The consular officer will determine after a personal interview with the applicant, whether or not the applicant is eligible to receive a visa. Eligible applicants receive their visas within several days after the interview. Applicants found ineligible will receive instructions on further steps to be taken to overcome their ineligibility.
